To find a leak, use a pressure tester

A pressure tester is useful if you suspect your cooling system may be leaking. This device works by pumping air into the cooling system, simulating the expansion of the coolant when the engine heats up. The coolant expands and the pressure in the system increases, which can indicate a leak. Attach the tester to radiator top and pump the water until the gauge matches the pressure cap. The ideal pressure should be between two and three psi. It should also decrease by approximately a quarter-inch.
